PINES

A testing start to the course with the left side being favoured as ideal. Not too far mind, or you will risk the wrath of the 3 fairway bunkers. A well-placed tee shot will provide the best angle to navigate the overhanging pine trees and avoid the large bunkers that are waiting.

COPSE CORNER

A dogleg from right to left. A perfect tee shot would be far enough around the corner to allow a shot to the green. But club carefully as if you overdo it, you run the risk of saying hello to the silver birch and other trees that await.

PLATEAU

A really challenging par 3, early in the round and long so I hope you've warmed up by now. Surrounded by bunkers left and right, this gem has a narrow entry to an elevated green. Hit it well and you'll finish on the putting surface.

TORR WAY

A par 5 that swings away to the right into the far distance. Only a long drive, in perfect position, will avoid a faded second shot around the large copse on the corner to leave an approach. Big hitters might fancy their chances of getting there in 2 but you'll need to avoid the numerous greenside bunkers and a ditch to the right to achieve your dream.

LONG PAR

Another difficult par three, with par being a real challenge. Navigate the bunkers to the left and right, with trees in play on both sides and to the rear, ready to catch an offline strike.

ROAD HOLE

The longest hole on our course meanders slightly to the left. A perfect tee shot must avoid the fairway bunkers whilst favouring the right side to give a view down to the green in the distance. But beware, more trouble awaits further down the fairway that eventually leads to a long narrow green. It slopes from back to front and is guarded at the entrance by bunkers both left and right.

BISHOPS CROSSING

A tough par 4. The tee shot must find the fairway, avoiding the fairway bunkers and be well positioned to avoid the four large trees that encroach onto the fairway. A well protected raised green, with bunkers to the left and right, will push errant approach shots away if not directed correctly.

McKENZIE

A tree-lined hole that dog-legs gently to the left. Don't be intimidated by the woods to the right off the tee although a tee shot should favour the right side whilst avoiding the bunker and a tricky bank. Meanwhile, if you are too far left, you run the risk of being blocked out by the trees. A well guarded Mackenzie green, with pot bunkers short, left and right awaits ahead.

WOOD VIEW

Another tricky par 3 with a partially unsighted view, due to mounding in front of the green. Beware the out of bounds to the left running the length of the hole, and a couple of interested greenside bunkers to the left and right, just ready to get involved.

THE SPINNEY

The shortest par 3 on the course. A small target with a raised green, bunkers short and to the right, with a steep run off over the back of the green.

SQUIRRELS

One of the most picturesque holes on our course with a very tight fairway, tree-lined both sides. Only a well placed tee shot will enable a shot to the green having to navigate the overhanging trees and bunker strategically placed in the front of the green. A green that slopes from back to front, with a Mackenzie design.

OUT OF VIEW

After a short walk, welcome to the first of our "newer" holes with a tight drive needing to navigate fairway bunkers and trees. The second shot may be a partially blind one to a sloping green. Pot bunkers left and right, gorse to catch the short slice and the out of bounds to the rear, all await an errant shot. This one will have you thinking.

THE ORCHARD

A narrow tee shot that must carry the apple orchard and avoid the well-positioned fairway bunkers. Your approach shot may well seem to show a generous target, but there's a significant trap to the front left so be on your toes. Don't throw this opportunity away.

WELL GUARDED

A lovely par 4. The narrow fairway falls away to swales on both the left and right. The left side sees two fairway bunkers that make the approach testing to say the least. A shallow but wide green awaits so there is still work to do to get your par. Hit it short, two pot bunkers await. Hit it long, it's in the gorse. You have to choose your club and trust it.

TRAPS

The final par 3 and another cracker. A large green that slopes from back to front. With sand and grass bunkers short, left and right. Out of bounds looms to the rear. It's a well-earned par...if you can get it.

IVOR'S MOUND

A dogleg to the right. A well-placed tee shot must be positioned between or beyond the fairway bunkers to give an inviting approach to a green that is mounded to either side.

CARLETT

A difficult par 4. The perfect tee shot must find the tree lined fairway, far enough to reach the corner, as the hole gently bends to the right. Avoid the out-of-bounds that runs down the left of the entire hole. The smallest green on our course is a very narrow upturned target. A less than perfect shot will not stay on the green. A grassy depression and pot bunker lie silently, waiting for the shot that strays to the left. It's going to test your drive, your approach, your chipping and your putting.

HORSE CHESTNUT

A relatively short final hole, but can be a card wrecker if not played correctly. A tee shot must favour the left side, as any shot heading right, will catch the slope and either find itself behind the large horse chestnut or its cohort of smaller trees to its right. As you'd expect the final green is surrounded by some mild sandy peril but it will see you finish the round.
